Oh man, I'm really sorry to hear about Doug. I never bought any of his products (out of the lemons budget range) but he did seem to be a standup guy from the raves other folks posted about him. He will be missed.
On a side note, completely unrelated to Doug's passing...and he was nothing but polite to me, never mind how many stupid questions I might have asked...I think his passing reveals just how fragile life is in general, but not only that, just how fragile that choosing obscure cars as a hobby is.
We sit back on autopilot, knowing that at least one person makes cool stuff for our cars, I don't have to worry about it, I can hang onto my heap, confident that when I get around to fixing or upgrading it, I'm lazy in the knowledge that he'll always be there to get this stuff from.
To be honest, he was the only reason why I even considered hanging onto these birds, as I am also guilty of thinking he'd be around for a while longer, while I got my crap in order.
I'm rambling right now, but I hope someone sees my point.
Thank you, Doug. I'm just sorry that I looked at you as more of 'the bushing guy' that I hoped to do business with someday, as opposed to 'Doug, the really fascinating guy that just happened to make a few bushings on the side.'
Wow, Mike just informed me today as we were fixing an O-ring injector leak on my car that he had passed, I thought he was joking. I was just looking at buying a set of his bushings last night which is really freaky. It really bothers me when we lose people who have just begun to hit the years of their life where they can sit back and enjoy what they worked so hard for. My condolences to his family, I never knew he was a Commander, and I thank him for his service to our country.
DLF...dependable, learned, forthright. If his initials could mean anything other than his name.
I too wanted to buy his bushings and he joked about how he was old and wont live forever so dont take forver to buy them. Its obvious none of us will live forever but too soon is still too soon. He was a proper upstanding member and I hope his friends and family are able to cope and grieve in peace.
So sorry to hear. Agreed with many posts, life is crazy and fragile; no one knows when the last time you saw or spoke with another will be just that: the last time.
Very sad news indeed, DLF was an integral part of our world and will be missed.
Looks like JL and Joel have a newbie in Heaven to talk MN12's and FN10's.
I was wondering what all these storms were about; those guys must be racing up there! I swore I saw some plastic intake parts raining down yesterday so I know Joel was hitting the NAWS button hard again...
RIP Commander, thanks for everything you have done to help others in need and thanks for your service.
Oh my god. I just read this thread. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. I am so sorry to hear about Doug. This is a real sad day for the MN12 and FN10 community. RIP Doug. You will be missed!
I do not mean to vent as I am in a pickle now. My issue is no where near what his family is going through. I just purchased over $1000.00 in parts from him that I paid for, just had to pay shipping. He was going to ship my parts out this week as they were complete, just waiting on the zerk fittings last week. I was about to follow up with him today to see how things were going.
Maybe it is a sign that I need to get out of the MN12 community. I talked to JL the week he passed away and now DLF.
Man well I'm sure u will get the parts after everything settles down a little and his parts are top notch I running his knuckle bushings and control arm bushings I must say that drastically stop axle wind up
Donna has been an absolute blessing to deal with. I am shocked that she has been in contact with me regarding the parts already as I was not expecting a reply for awhile yet. God bless her!!!
