Hey guy's I wanted to start this thread for a few reasons. Were gonna be having problems with some of the things on his dohc swap and Im no expert so yes were gonna need some help. At the moment he's got the V6 out and were gonna start all suspension stuff tonight. He's pretty positive he's gonna remove the ac instead of trying to figure out how to change the lines.
Fuel lines are gonna be another problem.
Biggest problem is the wiring for the dohc. From what I gather hes got a harness for a 95 V8 4.6L t-bird right now, He's got a new computer to use I beleive it was out of a t-bird not sure what year. What wires do we need to lengthen/shorten or add new sensors anything. If there is a book somewhere on the connectors and wiring and that we can buy here or download please let us know. Thank's for any help guy's!!!

There is a place on e-bay that sells EVTM's. I bought a 94 Mark VIII one from them a couple of weeks ago. Their shipping method is a little slow but their shipping cost is cheap. You can request a faster shipping method at more expense in shipping cost to yourself. Mine was less than $20 shipped.

Here's a link to their e-bay store.

I would get an EVTM (Electrical and Vacuum troubleshooting manual) for each different car you are trying to use the wiring from.

In order to use the 95 mark PCM I think you will also need the Virtual Control Relay module from the Mark VIII as well. That is located in the front of the car in the center, in front of the radiator near the bumper support. It controls everything for the cooling fan and fuel pump with the EECIV Mark VIIIs. This is something you would see in looking at the EVTM.

I just looked, they appear to have a 94 T-bird and a 94 Mark VIII manual but not 95's. Not sure what differences there would be, if you search e-bay you might find someone else that has them.

Actually, here you go:

there were others. I searched mark electrical 1995 and thunderbird electrical 1995 to find those. Problaby save shipping if you get them both from one person if possible.

The 95 mark computer will not work with the 95 tbird harnass, 60 pin versus 106. Additionally there is not reason to go to eec iv when there are so many more options out there i.e. eecv from a mustang. I personally would use a 98 gt computer because Diablosport makes a flashtuner for that year mustang as well SCT also has a flashtuner for that year. As far as the wiring goes there are two sensors that need to be re-wired and the ect needs to be lengthened and thats it. The throttle position sensor can be swapped over from the tbird provided it is the same as the v8 sensor. However as far as the underdash harnass goes i cannot speak to the challenges of that. I started with a v8 car not a v6. I believe this was discussed here a while ago and i believe the consesus was that the underdash harnass where the same. As far as the various other modules and controllers I cannot speak to that either. Probebly the easiest would be to either get a full mark vii donor car or a full tbird donor and pull all the various modules out. If you need any more help just let me know.

There's gotta be atleast 20 threads on here that tell you exactly which wires need to be lengthened and which connectors you need to splice on from the Mark harness.

The easiest way to do this is to lay the harness on the engine and try to start routing the plugs to the sensors they belong to. It will quickly become evident which wires need to be lengthened, and by how much.

Also, you should be able to use the stock V6 fuel lines if we're talking about a Gen I Mark 8 engine here.

hey Dennis and Roger......I've got the Ford EVTM manual for my '96 T-bird as well as the ford service manual and a couple other factory books on the car. I'm not sure if it all covers the V-6 or not but I would think that it does since it's the actual Ford manual.

If you guys want to borrow any or all of them just let me know. I'll be outta town this weekend so if you need to borrow it get back to me soon. You would just have to pick it up though since I work a long night shift.

Let me know.......Thanks !

There was just one EVTM each year for the T-birds and Cougars and it covers all options.

I don't know what if anything changed from 93 to 94 to 95 as far as wiring goes. I did find out the hard way that there were major changes to the breaking system after 93. So I would have to say you cannot just assume them to be the same.

Dennis........yeah, I'll be leaving first thing Friday morning. I also have to start work at 3:00 today and won't get out till 5:30am so tonight would be tough too. I haven't even had time to pack yet. LOL

I looked at the books I've got and I have a TBS book for 1996 Ford cars and another huge binder that's a powertrain control and emissions diagnostic book and it covers all 1996 Ford cars too.

I'm gonna send you a PM now so watch for it.....

later,
Jon
