And anyone ever checked the rotor phasing of a distributor?

I've been doing some reading about rotor phasing and found it pretty interesting. I have never checked it (never even thought about checking it) and was wondering if anyone else has and what their opinions are.

I've checked it on my truck. It's an 87 Ram that's I've swapped the 318 to a 5.9L Magnum. The swap involved switching to a carburetor and a 70's style Chrysler ignition system.

Also read about rotor phasing and wanted to check.
I drilled a hole in my distributer cap. Connected the timing light to the wire associtated with the hole. Point the light in the hole. You can now see how well the rotor is lined up with the tower.
Mine was dead on and still lined up with vacuum applied to the vac advance.
I was surprised how accurate the $10 swap meet distributor was.
