can someone please post what rpm you are at with stock 215-70-15 tires and 3.27 gears? i need the readings at 65, 70, 75, and 80 mph. i installed the purple tooth gear w/my 3.73's, and then removed when i went back to 3.27's. i didn't keep the original gear, so i bought a new one, but the rpm's seem to be higher than before at these speeds. i used to be at 2100(+-) rpm at 80 mph, but now i am at nearly the same rpm at just over 70 mph.

today while coming home i actually made it a point (don't know why) to check out what rpm i was at at what speed and at 80 mph i'm almost at 2500. at 70mph i'm around 2100. This is w/ stock p215/70/15 and 3.27's and 4.6L V8

94birdnj: thanks for the info. hopefully i can get a few others to corroborate those readings. don't know if it is different for v6.

palmguy: couldn't figure that one out. put in gear ratio and tire size, and got infinity for results. thanks for trying.

To use that calculator you need the transmission ratios as well. I believe those ratios can be found in the transmission 101 tech article! I am not sure if the AOD ratios are there but I think they are.

Try these in that calculator

(1st) 2.40, (2nd) 1.40, (3rd) 1.00, (OD) .67

well, if that calc. is correct, my rpm's are good to go. must have had bad speed sensor or gear in before.
