just put on kooks 3/4 headers with collectors and about 1 foot of pipe bolted on after. will theh car be safe to drive 100 miles back to chicago on the e-way at 55mph the entire way home? will this hurt the valves at all? just need to get her home and have no trailer..... i don't care about noise or smell, i do not want to risk damaging a 6 thousand dollar new motor.

thanks for the info. i fired her up for the first time yesterday! really loud and mean sounding ;) there was quite a bit of back fire at first, but it is open headers on a brand new motor that has never been run before. very deep lopey idle.

you might want some earplugs dude. Trust me.

I drove a tbird sc with open headers from ohio back to buffalo, thing sounded like a garbage truck with open headers, my head was pounding from the sound.

Seriously you might want to get a cheap muffler and just bolt it on there with an exhaust clamp, you will thank yourself later.

Plus police can't give you **** if you have a muffler on it.

I'd buy a cheap muffler, then an exhaust turndown, to dump the exhaust right to the ground.

i am havin some real issues tryin to bolt up a mufflers to the downpipes on the kooks, they are really awkward with the downpipes, you have to have over a 90 degree bend to clear goin down. and i am the REAL police ;) chicago pd just over 1 year of service now. thanks though!

i drove about 3 weeks with the setup u described, lol, deafinitely loud, but didn't hurt anything .........and ya i wish kooks had turned the flanges about 1/4 turn clockwise, that bolt right on top makes it a PITA to bolt anything on
