There are videos out there of the j-mod, and it sure looks easier with the trans out of the car and upside down than it does under the car with it dripping transmission fluid.

Just about any JY transmission is going to need a rebuild at this point; the best you can do without a good transmission guy is an 02 4r70w from agran marquis or crown vic, but the non-police version.
all the rubber is hard as a rock, and using the one piece seals makes them last.
If you install the "supertuff plate" from patc does the jmod, but you need to replace the 1-2 accumulator too.

I would say the hardest part of doing any J-mod is the snap ring for the 1-2 accumulator piston. Then again, I had crappy snap-ring pliers at the time.

The most frustrating part.... is the mercon bath. Get the Dorman pan with a drain plug instead. :)
