And don't forget the plane that went down in Pennsylvania. Though we're not entirely sure what happened we are pretty sure that those passengers stopped the efforts of the terrorists.

Beautiful job Joe...that was awesome. Just out of curiosity which ROTC branch are you in?

SilverBird, just out of curiosity again, I'm not trying to come down on you, just wondering...what have we changed that you consider an affront to your personal freedom?

You can do just about anything in the United States of America, but one thing that you can't do is terrorize. By enacting measures such as the Patriot Act, we are taking steps to stop this crap. And I am sick of one side of the aisle saying that the administration sucks on homeland defense, because another attack has not taken place, in fact many have been stopped before they could.

I don't believe that we have lost any freedom in our lives. Hopefully the only thing that we will be giving the terrorists is a lifetime stay in a maximum security prison or a few 5.56 mm rounds.
I was in AFROTC at University of Tennessee then transfered to FAU and took the crosstown program at UM. Unfortunately i had to drop it because a 70 mile one way trip and entire day was taken out of schedule. Also, since the POC course requires a three day a week commitment and staff meetings on friday i just couldnt do it and there is no way i could afford UMs 28k a year tuition. I was going to go to UCF instead but wasnt admitted because i was an outtastate transfer from Knoxville and wasnt seen as a priority to the university.

September 11th Memorial

watching discovery channel on tv about 9/11.

all i want to say is those people who are on flight 93 and those soldiers that are fighting for the freedom of our country (former and current),

i give you guys these.... :usa: :usa: :usa: :ssalute: :ssalute: :ssalute:

all these people will always have a place in my heart.

i still remember the day that morning when it happens. i was in the classroom waiting for my lecturer to come, then she came in and said "world trade center is being struck by a plane and i'm cancelling this class." we all go to the next room that have tv and watch the news there. i go to the lobby and watch the news there and i was speechless when i saw it live on tv that the second plane struck the other building. i can't believe what just happened in front of my eyes.

i spend the whole day at school watching the news and i will always remember the scene. i saw the second building being struck, i saw how both the building come down at that moment, i heard the pentagon and saw it on tv live, the down of flight 93, sorry for the long post but i will always remember that day for my whole life and "lets roll!!"

I was in class in Naval Nuclear Power School. The captain came over the 1mc and announced it. The base was almost completely shut down for 2 days.

i was in a very bad mood today.

frankly people HAVE forgotten already. my cook was like "so you think itll be busy today?" and i was like "hell no, not on 9/11, people might shop but they aint gonna get food" and he was like "oh yeah, thats today huh". then my other waitress said the same thing. put me off for the whole day.

i believe at certain points in the day, there should be a 5 second flash of pictures from that day that air on all channels. like once at 8 in the morn, once at 1 in the afternoon, once at 6 at night. like youll be watching CSI or news and BAM youre flooded with pics of that day, of the pain and horror, then bam its over and youre left feeling so mad at the terrorists you see now remember the reasons we are at war with terror.

I didn't have classes that day, so I drove down to Sandy Hook to go watch it. If you looked up in the sky, all you could see was smoke trailing south for miles upon miles. I got there right as the second tower fell.

Sucks that all I had was this crappy 35mm camera, but this is what I saw:

They have this down at the Leonardo Marina:

I was sitting in my first hour chem class when the first plane struck. Then when i was getting on the bus for band, someone told me what happened, I thought they were BS'ing. Then the director told us when we assembled on the field, and that was the first time I had ever heard that 120 person band be silent. Noone could believe what was happening. Nothing was done at school that day. The entire school just dat and watched the news all day. It still brings tears to my eyes to think about the events of that day.

Last year at school, we had one of the guys that worked on the design of the towers come in and give a speech on the building and everything. I only wish i hadn't have had class when he was speaking. I would have loved to have seen that.

Kinda like the Daryl Worley song, "Have you forgotten?"

Its hard to believe that its been 5 years since the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and United Airlines Flight #93 that crashed in an empty field just outside Shanksville, Pennsylvania. United #93 actually was reported to have flown over my house and turned around just down the road. My reason for posting this is so that no one ever forgets that day.

Post what you were doing when you found out about the attacks.

I was in my 8th grade English class when I heard that the Tower's had been struck. I watched it all unfold right in front of me on the TV & it was so sad to think people could do that to one another.

My prayers go out to everyone affected by the events of that day.

i was in 8th grade between 1st and 2nd period going to history class, when everyone got in the class my teacher was watching the news on the tv, and when the bell rang he turned off the tv and told us about what was happening, after he was done explaining what happened, the teacher in the room next to ours ran in and said the first tower fell, so we had the news on in every other class that day just in case there were any other attacks or developments

Heard it on the radio as I was driving in to work. Watched TV at work for the next couple of hours with all the coverage. Spent most of the day calling my patients saying that the shipping planes had been grounded and worked out different schedules for those patients.

I was on deployment aboard USS Carl Vinson with VF-213. I was just off work and watching the news in the shop when we saw the second plane hit the World Trade Center. The very next day our squadron got ready to fly air strikes over Afghanistan.

I was at work. One guy always listens to the radio in his office, and he said something was going on. We all gathered in one of the conference rooms and turned on the television news.

We were sitting there watching, and I just remember that at that point, everyone still thought it was a terrible accident. And as we're all watching, the second one hit....and the world changed. It's amazing how differently people reacted. It all seemed surreal as it was happening.

I can't believe it's been five years. It still seems so fresh to me.
