Well, I replaced the plug and wires a month ago, found out I had 2 dead cylinders. Car was runnin fine, now she's shudderin again, and it stalled out when I stopped at a red light. Not sure what is going on..... HELP!!!!

I went to Kragen to see if maybe they had a scanner I could use:

"Well is the CE light on?"
"No but...."
"Well then you dont need a scanner!"
"Erm, the CE light would not go on if the bulb burned out, now would it?"
"erm, I guess not, but you dont need a scanner and we dont rent them"

Bastards. Any way, what else should I check.

it might be dead ecu that didn't send pulse to the injector for fuel.

very common on 94-95 4.6 cars.

If it just turned off and didn't stumble it is a crank sensor. My car would randomly shut off at idle never while crusing, and it was that stupid sensor that you have to unbolt the ac compressor to get out.

before replace it pin point if an injector or 2 not firing.

test it by either noid light or unplug individual fuel injector until you find the one that didn't make difference in stumbling when pull.

Did you happen to read my sig line?

I am as mechanically inclined as Hellen Keller is with a Rubik's Cube!

Might call a buddy over that is a shadetree mechanic. I have another ECU, but it's a CA one. I bought a RichardM tube, larger MAF, ECU and chip from someone on here last year/ I tried putting the chip in the stock ECU, but the idiot light stayed on and the car ran like crap.

Thanks for the help!

if the car is missing its goign to set off some kind of code, take ur car toa local parts store, like autozone or advanceautoparts. they will read codes for free. just tell them ur bulb is burned out so they'll bother to come out and check it for you. if you tell them the light isn't on they'll say "oh then you dont need it checked" too.

check teh plugs as stated, and again, what wires are you running? oh and check the gaps on those plugs. there is a chance that one or more of ur injectors could be stuck (open/closed/halfway doesnt matter if its stuck ur car will run like crap). most of the time just a good cleaning of the injectors would help out. but get something hooked up to the computer and see if there are codes. if u pull something post up and let us know.

What Jasper suggested is not very difficult to do. Even someone with no mechanical skills at all should be able to pull off a connector. In my experience, the shuddering or shaking is usually caused by ignition problems or vac leak as stated above. Sputtering and stalling could probably point more toward the fuel or a bad sensor(once again as stated above).

Since you said you have no mechanical knowledge, I think now would be a good time for you to start troubleshooting. Do some reading, take the advice of knowledgeable members(not me) and dive in. It will give you more confidence in the future, you will get to know the car, and you might save a few bucks. Just my opinion.

By the way, I noticed you said you have an 80mm MAF and the chip made the car run like crap. So i'm guessing you took the chip out, but is the MAF still installed? That would definately cause the car to run like crap.

if a fuel injector is not spraying correctly it will make the car heavily vibrate through all rpms till you hit a cruising speed. had a mustang come through the shop a few months back, the vibration was soo terrible it would make the cd player skip, i popped the hood open and a wire leading to the injector on the 7 cylinder was barely making contact. so its a possibly but im agreeing with you more probably spark related. or if that maf wasn't swapped out bingo, theres no doubt that maf would cause the car to go bonkers w/out a chip.

Well, I checked my fluids, topped off what needed to be filled. Added Lucas Oil Fuel Treatment and she seems to be running great...so far. It's only been a day. Now if I could get the over heating figured out i will be set.

Thanks for the help all!
