Quick question on shaving. I have an 89 Cat with the large black side molding on the car that I want to take off. There seems to be alot of double sided tape holding it on. My best bet would be to use some fishing line, but then what would I use to get the tape off the car? I don't know if goo gone would work well. Any other suggestions?

Heres a pic of the car, soon to be without the side molding.

Fishing Line will work. I have heard of folks popping it up at points with a flat head screwdriver along the thing to get it up also. To remove the glue/tape remnants, use nail polish remover. Works amazingly.

that there is a damn good tool. works as advertised. as far as the whole fishing line thing, i would get a plastic putty scraper or bondo spreader. it wont damage the paint and wont cut through your hands either.

3m also make a specialty adhesive remover, used it on my car for my moldings. the double sided black stuff is a real pain to get off. "3m Adhesive Remover" is fantstic! about $20 for a can at a GOOD auto parts store.

We'll I couldn't find that tool at any of te stores around me so I just went ahead it did it the long, hard way. I ripped all the molding off and I am slowly getting the tape off my scrapping it. I'm taking my time and making sure I'm not scratching the paint. I got one side done, today the other should be completed.

Did you ever find the center caps? When one of mine broke (courtesy of idiots at a tire place) I was able to order a new one from the local body shop. It was NOS from ford, I got it for $25

your cat looks sweet without the side moulding!
Thanks for the compliment. Here is what it looks like now, remember it is a WIP.

Cougar_guy04, I am currently watching a whole set on ebay that seem to be in pretty good condition. I am keeping my hopes high on winning them so the rims looks better. Thanks for asking.
