I just got the B&M trans cooler, the second biggest (BMM-70264). I got the second biggest only because the biggest doesn't come with everything that the others do. From Summit's site: This model(BMM-70266) does not include installation components and has female 1/2 in. NPT fittings.

As for the shift kit, some people have said that the Trans-go kit is the best. The trans shop I ordered my rebuild kit from said they have been having more success with the Fairbanks kit in their experiences. This anecdotal evidence suggests that the Fairbanks is the best outside of the infamous "J-mod".

I now have a Fairbanks kit in my 4R70W and it shifts great! I'm very happy with it so far.

No, it's the 24k gvw cooler.

Here is the description from Summit's Web site:
BMM-70264 24,000 GVW, 11 in. x 6 in. x 1 1/2 in., transmission cooler

You're gonna spend the same time installing some "shift kit" or doing the J-Mod.
I've got the 28K GVWR cooler, and the install package that is in the "cooler kit" isn't enough of what you need anyway.Pick up some threaded hose connections in 1/2" NPT to 3/8" hose, and you've got a better cooler, and hose barbs that will have less tendency to leak. You'll need more hose anyway,so get 15 ft of 11/32 or 3/8" trans cooler hose,a few clamps,a piece of 3/4" wide flat bar from the hardware store, and a few 1/4" bolts, and you've got better than what's in the install package. Then again some people have a mental block and must have everything in a "kit" or they can't deal with it.

Both the Trans-go and the B&M require you to drill holes..so that's not really a reason to not do the J-Mod.

if you don't feel comfortable doing it then don't do it. If you don't know what you are doing, then don't attempt it. Read the articles, and have a good ford shop manual on hand for torque specs, etc.

Or, get together with one of the local tccoa guys who has done it before and either pay them to do it or get them to help you out.

Go for the 99+ valve body and Mk8 TC and flexplate.

Joey,

The J-Mod is MUCHO easier than the Trans-Go, trust me on this one, plus it is better.

i also have the same cooler but haven't mounted yet.just wonder if i will risking overheating my coolant by stick that big piece of cooler in front of my radiator? the size make it impossible to fit under the side of the bumper. also where do you get the npt style connector? here all i got is mpt for plumbing and the thread doesn't really fits well. from zackg's pictures it looks like the nipples are facing downwards, or i need to clean my eyes? pros and cons having downwards? trapped air???

I've never had it get any hotter being where it is now

also where do you get the npt style connector?
I got mine at lowes or any home center

thats what it looks like from the bottom, i do not know about air bubbles and such being trapped
