Hey everyone! I'm stuck on a tough decision here....
Which one would you choose?

1993 Ford Taurus SHO 109K miles Auto
or
1993 Ford Thunderbird SC 124K miles Manual

Wow what a tough decison......I would have to say the SC based on the trans, and I'm bias to rear wheel drive but they would look nice as a mathcing set!

Ug.. Such a choice. Money pit 1 or Money pit 2..

I spent a lot of time on the old TCCA (Taurus Car Club of America) and I have seen tons of people buy SHOs because they are "cool". Many of the people that buy them sell them within a year. You have to have deep pockets for replacement parts including the 60K maintenance, which is very extensive.

We all know about SCs.. Do some searching here and be INFORMED and WARNED. I think it would be better to find something a little more easier to find parts for. I would suggest a V8 Thunderbird, Mustang GT or a Crown Vic P71. Parts are plentiful and cheap!

SC hands down. Its a 2 door 5 seater sport coupe with a manual transmission.

You should have this same poll on the Taurus forums .. see how many of them prefer the SHO over the SC. We're a little biased here. :D

SC, like everyone else the trans. Even if was a AOD I'd say SC it's less of a money pit, at least the SC uses a Ford engine.

Wow, that's a shocker. 1st/2nd gen SHO owners stand by their cars pretty good. They don't even want anything to do with us 4th gen guys. You must not have it posted on shoforums.

The way my Tbird sits, I spank early SHO's all day, even if the engine has a hiccup.

If the SHO was a manual I'd say go for it, my uncle had a pretty BadA$$ one and it was QUICK!

I've never riden in an SC, but I've driven MN12s before. I would love to drive one with a 5 speed. So I would also say go with the SC

After owning both, I give the win to the SC. The MN-12 chassis is just a better design. The engine has more part's available and (most importantly) the SC can be made to go faster for a lot cheaper then the SHO.

^^what he said. For the sho there are not many options to make it go fast other than boost. I've riden in a 93 sho manual and I was kinda disappointed to be honest, not nearly as fast as its hyped up to be. Not that it's a bad car I do like it but not nearly like a thunderbird. I'll go out on a limb and say stock for stock the SC is quite a bit faster although I've been told they are pretty even in a 1/4 mile. Oh and the fact that it is fwd.. Can't stand it on a sports car.

A 5 speed '89 SHO vs a 5 speed '89 SC would be a good race, they would be extremely close. It'd be driver vs driver.

The auto SHO's are pretty bad, the trans isn't anything different then a standard 3.0/3.8 taurus of that era. I went though 2 of them in my '94 ATX.. Though my '92 MTX was a very fun car.. Not everyday did you see a black on black leather 5 speed second gen taurus. :)

My '94 ATX...
