I need to get a tranny rebuild, my OD band burnt up... but I haven't the slightest idea on where to begin.

I'd assume drain all the tranny fluid... but then what, start yanking out bolts?

Any tips or directions?

Exhaust has to come off, so there could be troubles there with rusty studs,

Driveshaft,

Speedo wires disconnect,

a bunch of bolts holding in the tranny,

Also, the AOD is a heavy bastard, you do not want to do this without a hand!

Do you have accesss to a shop?

Good luck Jason!!!

I just dropped mine two weeks ago. Hard job, but if you're replacing it, good.

a) Exhaust
b) driveshaft out (if you have 91 under, just lower the gas tank with a jack until it is low enough to pull out the back)
c) misc. cables attached to tranny (speedo wires, tranny cooler lines, etc.)
d) drop tranny fluid pan and leak out fluid (let sit for about half an hour)
e) loosen bolts on front of tranny to access torque converter
f) drain fluid from TC
g) start loosening bolts on the TC after draining fluid
h) take out bolts for tranny itself
i) you'll NEED a jack to lower it, it's heavy... (i had to lift it from my jack, hard)

Anything else guys? I cannot remember... I try to block it out...
