got hold of 2000 splitport mustaang engine w 12k, question is should i just change top end of my 96 3.8 w splitport top end for the more aggressive cam in 96 or change whole motor?

from what I have been told, if you change the whole motor, you're gonna need to look at beefing up your tranny, and the rear-end on your 96 bird.

typically you just swap out the heads, and intake manifolds (upr/lwr) but if you have the entire motor i'd put that in. it will put out more then swapping out the parts!

In all honesty, it wouldn't really matter either way. I would swap out the complete engine, simply because it is easier (in my opinion) and the 2000 engine probably has less miles on it than your 96 engine.

Swap in the mustang motor, BUT use the 96's cam...

While you're at it, go 5-speed m5r2.. .did the motor you got come with IMRC's?

A 2000 shouldn't have IMRC's.

yeah just stick the whole engine in there, it's got lower miles. Just make sure to use the balancer and flexplate of that year engine.

balancer

got everything but flex plate, though this motor was internally balanced? Anyoe got suggestions on where to get a good flexplate?
