Hey guys I will be rebuilding my suspension, and my advisors are telling me to get new isolators for the springs on teh back. I saw the kit from scp, but I'm not looking to spend an extra 70 on the project, plus shipping. Can I jsut get a set of rubbers from Moog or TRW? Thanks!

if you want the jack the rear up use the scp poly isolator. if you want to stay the same height use the trw or ford or moog unit.

just a little under an inch if my memory serves me correct.

why i say this?

use to have 94 tbird and swap out to eibach prokit spring which lowered 1.5" and use the stock isolator. lowered the front and back nicely.

then on the current 96 swap over the same 17" wheel and tire combo and bought another new set of same eibach spring but this time use the poly isolator. before putting it on already suspect the isolator because it is poly and it won't compress like stock rubber unit and it is thicker and wondering wouldn't this will cause the rear sits higher than my 94 setup?

once put the eibach and poly isolator in the rear is in fact does not sit as low as my 94 did.

before lowered...

after lowered...

what size tires are those in the lowered pics? Can I use just the polys on the bottom of the spring and rubbers on top to even it a little?

i used rubber. my cars butt looked like it was dragging stock. turned out the isolators were squished. ordered new ones for the back only and it gave a nice slightly raked stance after being lowered.

I'm using one stock rubber and one Cobra Mustang isolator on the rear with MarkVIII arms and Thomas' perches. Had to cut 1 coil from the stock springs to regain a stock ride height.

After further weight reduction [emptying the trunk of speakers, tools, and amps] I now need to cut another full coil. The rear is still way too high. I am almost afraid of raising the spring rate too high with another coil removed. If it's too stiff some custom springs may be needed.

I'm more interested in straight line weight transfer. Softer rear springs would be helpful.

Here's one from my camera phone. I need to take some decent ones. I use 235/55R16 BFGoodrich Traction TA tires on my 16" Sport wheels. The tires are about .5" shorter than stock.
