theres some members who have gone to previous sshs7 event and have really enjoyed them. its an open invitation event, pitting the big 3 againt each other. mostly impala guys, but witha a mix of lincoln mark VII' and VIII's, a good showing of mauraders last two years amd turbo coupes aand super coupes. just thought it should be posted to see if anyone might be interested. i've personally traveled from Texas the last 4years and have had a blast every time. meeting and seeing different cars on the heavy side is just plain cool to me. so again it the super southern heavyshootout in commerce goergia. link provided. http://www.sshs7.com/

good thing, now if we can get a few guys from this board and maybe some others we'll have more of a diverse mix of car racing. than all of us beating out each other.

Don't think you'll find all that much interest here based on the past three years of SSHS. It's been the Marauder guys and a few Marks, both VII and VIII holding up the Ford end. Oh, and that guy with the Mercury station wagon. ;) Only 2 'Birds there last year and they were locals and spectating iirc. It seems the MN12s have trouble with the 4000lb limit, at least the ones that have been modified to be faster since most included a weight loss program in those mods. I think the Impala guys actually raised the weight too? It was 3800 the first year I went if memory serves.

But - there is the possibility that Goldbird will be there and Frankencougie too so it may be different this year.

As far as us beating each other, the race officials forcibly set up Ford vs. Chebby off the line in round one last year in spite of us not being smart enough to all stage in the same lane. :D The big thing is surviving round one...

i have to totally agree with you i was just hoping to see some of the t-bird, sc clans come out and even if they didnt race. heck it could be a mini weekend meet for tccoa and sccoa. but also as for the staging soem folks had e-grudge matches that had to be settled so you know. would definitely like to see cougie again and see how goldbird will do.

They do have buy backs for round one.

yea, we come every year and watch. A great time is always had.
But it's just not worth the entry fee to literally 'sand-bag' to the tune of 350 lbs just to bracket race.

Maybe they could start up a 'Not-So-Heavy-Weight' class ;)

Yeah, since they changed the rules and made us sandbag I haven't felt the need to drive all the way down there with the extra weight just to get a few runs in.

My wife and I will be there, but most likely I will not run. I do not know what my car weighs, but according to the consensus here, it would not break the 4K requirement.

They make it sound like the last year every year. At least for the last two years as I recall.

Right now we plan on coming down. Watched a video of the group looks like 2003. There was a missing air box in the bird and it looks like you guys were having a blast even though it was a little wet out.

Yeah, and someone (I don't remember who it was anymore) had actually brought a spare air box just in case that one went boom. :)

I am planning on being there with my SC. Think I'll be running on a full tank of gas and then some maybe. I usually weigh in at 3960 with me in it and 1/4 tank of gas. My dad will also be there with his marauder and another buddy in his marauder too.

Right now it looks like GB will be "unveiled" at SSHS7. She will not be completely done. She is running now with 510hp at the wheels, pushing 14psi of boost with the 3.1" upper pulley. That's just a conservative, pump gas, street tune. Just a base tune to be sure the fuel system is functioning properly, the belt slip issue is resolved, and to see how she handles on the street, and so that Scott could get her back home and work on the cabin and the remote kill switch and some other odds and ends. Passing tech is the goal, and barring unforeseen circumstances, she'll be there.

We have a 2.8" upper pulley waiting in the wings, and the plan is to put that pulley on her next week. If there is no belt slip or other issues, we anticipate somewhere close to 20psi of boost. If everything holds together, we'll race tune her with the small pulley, and run her in that trim on Saturday. If issues develop with the smaller pulley (and they are not catasrophic :zpuke::bawling:) we'll drop back to the bigger pulley, race tune her, and run her in that trim.

I don't even want to count how many "ifs" there are in the last two paragraphs, but signs are good that GB will be there. We have no idea how much HP we'll end up with, or how she will hook, so I have no idea what class I will run. Hell, it's been 4 years since I saw a tree, 'cept on TV. I can tell you that I will not be risking the car for a half second. I don't expect to go many rounds of actual racing, but Aric and I and possibly Scott will be taking passes in the morning, and possibly in the afternoon, if I get beat.

As far as weight goes, I don't think sandbagging will be necessary. The only thing we did to drop weight was to swap in the aluminum Mark rear LCAs and swap racing seats in for the stock electric seats. When you add in the weight of the intercooler system (heat exchanger, fans, aftercooler, coolant reservoir, hoses, fittings, coolant), the blower and the intake tubing, the SVO intake, the 0 gauge battery cables from the trunk and all the other additional electrical cables, wiring and relays, the Aeromotive fuel pump, JL's front chassis braces, all the welding rod used to beef up the IRS, the roll cage, fuel, and my 275 lbs -- I'd be very surprised if she is under 4000#.

What I'd like to see in Commerce is this:

Ah, the good ole glory days, when we were all just trying to get to the 13's N/A.
