I have a 1997 Thunderbird LX, 4.6, automatic. I bought it used last year. When you turn the ignition key to "on" the cooling fans come up right away. The Service Engine Soon light blinks when they shut off. Only after this can I start the car. The length of time this wait takes gets longer as the outside temperature goes down. Is this normal for a 97? My boyfriend has a 95 and he does not have this problem. The car was originally sold in Southern California. It now lives in Southeastern Washington.
