I'm torn here.......

I bought my wife a 01 sable wagon and it needs tires BAD..... they are 215 60/16's. I have the painted sports on my car that are 225 60/16's that have 2 brand new tires, and 2 that are "servicable" Being that I dont have the cash to buy all 4 new tires for her car I was thinking to put my stock rims back on my bird(they have 2 almost new tires adn 2 ok ones) and ditching the sports( one of the sport rims has a dent in one of the lips), putting the good tires on her car and getting 2 new ones. I obviously want to have my wife's car as safe as possible for her and our children being that's the new family car. What's your opinion....... go back to stock rims and put the 2 new tires on the sable or just pony up the money and buy 4 new ones for her car and keep the black sports on it?

Have you tried bolting the stock 15" wheel onto her car? I know I've seen an 01+ style sable with 15" fan blades on it, so unless either the wagon got bigger brakes, or that sable was running the older style brakes, I would at least try it.

That was one thing I was going to try for the hell of it but I really didnt think that they would fit as they look pretty squeezed in there even with the 16" wheels. Maybe that will be my task for tomorrow. Worse case scenario I could give her the sport rims and I'll look for another(bigger) set of rims for my bird  Driving around today I saw a sable that had the mercury logo centercaps that would fit those rims as well

Just as I thought... the 15" tbird rims were too small to fit around the big brakes of the sable. I'm really partial to my black rims so I might just bite the bullet and get 2 tires now for the sable, and 2 in another 2 weeks when i get paid again.

This way I can keep the 15's and replace 2 of the older tires with a set of snow tires for the winter in my bird.
