hey guys.

Had to pull and clean iac, and now can't get one of the bolts to tighten up.

is there a oversized bolt i can use or does it need to be retreaded?

somehow I crossed-threaded it..

only thing holding it right now is one bolt and a lot of teflon tape on the other bolt.

any help/advice appreciated..

Thanks...

If there's enough thickness to re-thread it, I'd go that route.

Personally, I'd grab the first bolt laying around that is just a bit bigger, and that would fit, then tap the hole to fit that.

Going from metric to english often gives you a close option; metric is usually just a bit smaller than the similar-sized english bolt. :)

Use care so you don't go somewhere you aren't supposed to go; the proper length/depth is important. :) Get "bottoming" taps, that will tap to the bottom of a blind hole. There is a difference in taps... :D

If it opens into a passage, even a crack, use red locktite; it will go on fairly thick. Coat the whole bolt; it will seal.

fixed.

tried out a longer bolt and found I had some threads left.

worked out well, snugged it just enough so it won't come lose.

bolt size is M6-1 X 35 Lawson item# 1332297

thanks.
