I broke my poor car last WED. I was driving home from work in the snow, and spun off the road into a fire hydrant. I hate snow. I'm not driving in it anymore.

Anyway... I have a good sized dent in my side panel. Spacifically at 10:00 from the center of the rear driver's side wheel. I have been given bids from around $2000, to $2500 to fix it. Being a college student... I can't really afford that, but I can't leave my Cougar like that... Its just wrong!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here are some pictures (Sorry, the car's soo dirty. I don't want to chip off any more paint by taking it to the carwash):

From the pictures, I think you're going to need a new quarter pannel. The prices you got aren't that bad if they are going to replace it.

If i can get a look at it in person. I may be able to take a little of it out with my hammer and dolly. It can be fixed but i would need a pro spot witch at this time i don't have access to.I am still looking for a autobody job here in kc.If i were still at school i could fix it there. I can tell you that price sounds fair. you could call salina area votech where i went they do work for free labor just parts but it might be tough to get it in this year. They tend to have a long waiting list. call and ask for charlie nelson he was my body instructor. I just finished this october.

If I am looking at it correctly you're quater panel has been pinched. From what I learned in Auto Body Repair, if it's pinched, replace it, if its bent, fix it.

Thaks for your advice guys. I went out and got some more bids. One company (I forget the name) gave me a nice bid of $1400. I'll let you all know how good of work they do sometime in January.
