Is there a supercharger made for the 4.6 ohc? I have a 94 Cougar and I was thinking about doing this. What other mods would I need to do to make this work?

Simple search would reward you...

1BDCAT,

The only real "kit" out there for the 1994-1997 4.6L Cougar is the ALLEN supercharger. It comes packed with an Eaton M90S and it's intercooled with a 50-State legal CARB exception number. It also clears the stock hood of the MN12 vehicles.

Expect to pay $5,000 when it's all said and done, plus you have to install the kit as well. With 6-psi most 4.6L MN12's will deliver 250-275 RWHP, depending on the tune and state of the engine.

1/4 mile times should go from high 15's to low 14's and if you choose the right torque converter and gears, you can easily dip into the 13's.

Visit http://www.allenengine.com

You can also go with a Ford Racing supercharger or a Vortech supercharger, but these are not "true kits" for your vehicle. They will work and many people have had great sucess with the Eaton M112 based Ford Racing blower and the Vortech supeperchargers. Ask around.

seems like a lot of work for little return. If I am not mistaken the stock motor makes 205 horse. Adding a superchanger will only gain you 30-50 horse, so the cost to gain is too great. I guess I will try another route. Any suggestions?

Not exactly...

1BDCAT,

Your engine was rated 205 HP/265 TQ at the crankshaft. At the rear wheels, after the loss through the drivetrain it is only 165 HP.

Yeap, you are making a pathetic 165-170 RWHP with a 4.6L V-8. So the ALLEN blower with 6-psi jumps it to 250 RWHP right away with no other mods to the engine, exhaust, etc. That is nearly 100 REARWHEEL HORSEPOWER added, all the time, ready to use.

Tuned slightly you can see 275 RWHP with the addition of exhuast and a 9-psi pulley you can make 300 plus RWHP. Most 9-psi cars see 300-330 RWHP.

You have doubled the output at the wheels from stock. 165 + 165 = 330 RWHP.

The crankshaft is now seeing 385 HP and 440 TQ.
