No, those are rarer, the 87/88 XR7s moved roughly double the volume and didn't get the Turbo 2.3s. They were basically just loaded LSs with the 5.0 SEFI standard, Tbird sport suspension and different wheels and paint(although, aesthetically, they're my personal fav of all the 83-97 Tbirds/Cougars).

The 84-86s are rare as all hell, especially in that kind of condition.

Nice find!

Wow. Rare indeed. I wonder what his reserve is? I'm sure he knows how rare it is.

There's one on craigslist. The St. Louis one I think, for $1200. I had an 84 Turbo Cougar. I sure miss that car.

Wow, that is nice, AND it doesn't have the porno red interior. I have seen an 86 TC (Turbo Cougar) in Craigslist locally for less than 2 grand, it wasn't in great shape but mechanically seemed okay. The front end of the <87 is okay until you see an 87/88 and then it doesn't look so good.

I like the looks of that car, but would prefer the 5.0L.

Dang, that's a purty car. If I had the space I would not hesitate to put some bids down on that! He's only about 2 hours away from here too...

Not me. I have owned a Turbo Cougar and several Turbo T-birds. They are fun and can be built to spank a 5.0 with ease. And its a cheaper build, depending on which way you go. A 5 speed swap would be mandatory though.

There was an '86 Cougar XR-7 TC at the local auction, I looked at it, it was mint. Not sure if it sold or not. I believe it was Grandmother Grey color.

I would love to have an 87-88 TC, cause IMO the '86 Cougar's have looks that only a mother could love.

I disagree. The Tbird was styled by a wind tunnel, the Cougar was styled by stylists. The way the body line flows up with the upswept window and the hips it subsequently gives the quarter panels is just classic beautiful. I'm with Bangster though, the weak point of the 83-86 is the front end. Looks way too much like a Tbird(honestly it wasn't until recently I found out the headlight pods were different!) and the grilles are a tad Mercedes derivative.

But then again, I understand those Cougars are an acquired taste. Once you aquire it though it's hard to look back at an equivalent Tbird:D
