I know most of you have seen Before and after pictures of the "SuperBirdo" Project. But this is a picture of when I had the smog test done. It passed! I drove it there with no hood and the fenders barely bolted on. It was the longest smog test I ever experienced. The Smog tech was a bit confused. This is a 1995 Tbird with all 1997 Wiring and what not.

You da Man!! LOL ... No hood, no headlights, no corner lights, no front bumper. It's all good.

Smog test only, no need to check anything else.

Exactly. Fellow member Chris_Murder is a fully lisenced Smog tech here in Nevada. He knows... The guy told me he thought there were no cats on the car. But he couldn't prove it. And it passed a tail pipe sniff test. Funny thing is there are brand new cats on the car. So it is Legit. But Nevada has a book. And if he looked up smog gear in the book for a 1995 then this car didn't look right. But he didn't get it...Nonetheless,we have legal liscense plates..

Nice! I may be wrong, but It's my understanding that an E85 car will pass an emissions test even without cats because it's burning mostly alcohol not gas.

Very interesting point Trunk! That said at the time of this smog test this car wasn't even tuned at all. Let alone for E85. It currently has a tune from Don Lasota. And it runs very nice. But it is not tuned for E85. But the point is still very interesting.

Still burning 15% hydrocarbons containing gasoline.. There will be elevated HC and CO levels without the cats. The CO, CO2 and NOx and Benzene emissions are reduced ( with cats ) .. Acetaldehyde emissions will increase.

I think he means new registration, or sticker for the plates.

I don’t have to do jack here, pre-1996 cars are exempt from emissions in Illinois and there’s no safety inspection, but anyplace with them won’t let the car be registered until they do
My 96 should have been inspected. I just never did it. That was 6 years ago. Renewed the rego last month.

What are the consequences for just straight up not getting it done?
Here in Nevada there is ONE county that requires smog testing. Clark county. That's where Las Vegas is. Like Xr7-4.6 stated, we can't renew our registration. We don't have any kind of safety inspections here. But a smog inspector car fail you and send you to a State DMV smog inspector if he thinks the emissions system has been tampered with.

The first photo is from October 2017 when the car was first done. We bought it for $900. We did all four shocks. Vogtland lowering springs. New Rack and Pinion. all new control arms. New tires. All new exhaust. 2.25 inch pipes. High flow cats. Magnaflow mid mount 11385 muffler. New tires stock size. At this time we recovered the headliner and deep cleaned the interior. Replaced all the fluids. FIxed the blower motor and some stuff under the dash. On the first full day my son drove the car from Las Vegas to El Paso. After that he put 17,000 miles on it in a year. The old girl did well.

This picture is the day we bought the car. The hood was in bad shape.

Here are some pictures of the Super Coupe Perfomance Hood. We chose not to use this. But most of these pics are from the day we fit the hood to the car.
