hi members!

I was wondering about the supercharger.
I saw that many used superchargers are out on ebay.
But I haven't a clue how to install a supercharger.
Can I use my carburetor on it?
I bought a 390 cfm 4 barrel Holley.
What else can I buy to use it on my engine, if I buy this for example:

How it hurts my mileage?
I wan't to use the car as a daily driver
I heard about the head gasket may be bad, can I hardened or something the gaskets?

thanks
Robi

While I do realize a 3.8L needs a supercharger (especially an '82), I don't think you're looking at putting an Eaton on your car anytime soon. Though companies do use Roots-style superchargers on carb'd engines. Weiand is a good brand to look at for an example, with their SB Chevy kits.

Think about this: A 1982 255ci powered Cougar/'Bird puts out a whopping 118hp. So what can a 3.8L of the same vintage do? You'd spend an enormous amount of money and end up with 200hp if you're lucky.

If you want to make the car fast, throw the engine over the fence at your local junk yard, and order a 5.0L/5.8L long block. Or else, make your V-6 fast and prove me wrong! :D
