I bought a 90 s/c parts car today and figured before i pull it apart and haul the rest away I should ask if there is any specific pieces I should pull off that are harder to find or.......
Its an auto so no 5spd pieces :(
The guy I got it from took the black leather interior but said he'll give me his red leather interior. Im using the hand e-brake and rear discs as well as diff for my lx, Is there anything else I should keep?

Steering Wheel, Center Console Cover, ARC Covers, A-Servo from the AOD

Front & Rear Brake Calipers+Parking Brake Cables

Is there any other differences in the AOD internals as opposed to the 5.0L AOD's?
The ride control I was considering trying to swap into my lx but maybe on a switch if its possible since I'm assuming my car wont be wired for it.
The front bumper cover is a bit messed up but I'll have to look at it in daylight since its shoved inside the car.
Thinking the s/c wheels would be a nicer winter wheel than my lx wheels but not sure if I should put them through our winter road conditions or not.
I got lucky and got the springs in the car and the very low milage springs from his car as well since he lowered his.
What is the difference in steering wheels?
Also is the steering ratio any different in the s/c?
Oh ya and do the E-fans pull decent air to cool a 5.0?

IMO the SuperCoupe Steering Wheel is just better looking.. :)

Well maybe i'll have to see how a 2spd Taurus fan fits then. They seem to work well in other projects i've used em in. I was hoping this one would be enough since it should be a bolt in.

Try using a Mark VIII fan instead. A FACTORY one.

Be aware you'll have to handle up to 70A on power on ...

As to the rest - keep the springs from under it if at all possible. Even if you don't choose to move to JJJJ springs (or even if you HAVE JJJJ springs), a spare set for Justin Case's car might not be too bad.

Also, you could always sell them later.

Moonroof? If so, the moonroof itself may be worth something.

I'd not mess with the ARC - consider how old the ARC shocks are. Of course, if you REALLY wanted to, you could wire them up to a DP3T switch (On/Off/On) and run them that way, then you could always use the Illumina II shocks from Tokico.

But eh.

I have been hoping to find mk8 cars in the local yards but no luck. Not many around here and the few that are people are keeping.
I never thought about the moonroof. Probably a good thing to hang on to even if it's just spare parts for my lx which has it aswell.
Is the ride control really worth it as far as handling goes?

Been looking for the aluminum diff, and driveshaft if there is one that will work on a 5.0 aod bird. Any other pieces useful aswell. Wouldn't mind a nice mk8 to drive too. Haha!
Funny you bring up Cadillac. I just redid the suspension on my deville, not the cheapest to do but such a nice hiway car. Thinking of transplanting an m90 onto it. :) Also thought about one on my 5.0 but now I'm debating the complete s/c swap. Need to research the pro's and cons of that one though.

The aluminum diff's only advantage is reduced weight. It's not a big deal, especially since it adds an additional complication to do-it-yourself diff work (need that case spreader).

The LCAs are a better thing to aim for since it DOES reduce the unsprung weight of the car. Just remember to get the LCA/spindle bolts - those are specific to the Mark VIII LCAs.

And that's not even all that big a deal, truthfully. You can shave a similar amount of weight off by careful wheel and tire selection ... so for a street car, it's more a matter of personal choice. Corner carving, yah, you can tell the difference.

But eh. That's all personal preference if you ask me.

Ouch!!!! That diff casing exploded. :cool:

I see it has the grease splatter around the inner joints on the body as well. My lx has it too but boots are all good and clamped tight. How do you stop that mess from happening?

If I were to play chicken and the egg I'd say the cover broke first and put all the load into the ears, shearing them off. In which case, the iron case wouldn't necessarily fare that much better;)

Thats almost what it looks like. Wonder if a worn rear mount could have an affect on that?
Im still trying to find a replacement for my rear mount.

I broke ears off of mine at the track, the rear cover and cv's remained safe but it clunked horrible under jmod shifting. I was shocked when I put it over a bay at work and saw it barely surviving. I changed it that day.
