just change the front today with a spring compressor bought from autozone and work by my self. let me tell you guys also that the front is PITA!!! the upper mount have to line up, the whole assembly is heavy, couldn't take out the endlink, so just disconnect upper control arm ball joint bolt and nut, wiggle here and there...all by my self. definitely will not want to do it again.

also replace driver side upper control arm and the ball joint is pretty bad, too much play in it. easier to change than i thought.

also notice the lower control arm bushing is pretty much shot, but that will be next time.

tommorrow morning will change out the rear. wish me luck!!!

also the passenger side the spring also broke.

Hmmmm, I've never had that much of a problem. It's all in having the right tools for the job. I'd never do it with those spring compressors, but I have a wall mounted compressor. The endlinks aren't that bad, you just have to play with the floor jack to find the spot where there is no pressure on them, and either tap them out, or use a small pickle fork.

i gave up on the rear spring change!!! just manage to change the rear shocks and will let the shop do the spring sometime next week. there is no way i can wiggle out the spring. my hand and my muscle already being pushed to the limit. don't want to deal it anymore. the perches prevent it from coming out. use the spring compresor doesn't help either.

Sounds like you are making things waaaaaay too hard. The rear springs are very easy to do, just take your time, and look at things. I've never used a spring compressor on the rear.

I've had the best luck with getting the car up as high as you can on the jackstands, disconnecting the brake line from where it meets the hardline, and taking the bracket off of the fenderwell. Then put a jack under the control arm. Disconnect the swaybar endlink, the shock, and the upper control arm from the spindle. Then I just push down on the lower control arm with my foot while I slide the spring out. I've done about 5 this way, and can change rear springs in about 30 minutes. Wes's car was most recent, and we took his out, cut them, and put them back in in under 45 minutes. If you did the fronts, the rears should be a walk in the park.

i agree, i rather change 100 rear springs out than have to do the fronts. not that they are that much harder, just that the rears are so easy.

We did my fronts with the rented spring compressors and the rears pretty much like Rich described. Wasn't hard at all. Once you get everything disconnected just push with your foot and pull on the spring.

I agree to the back is a piece of cake. I thought i was much easier than the front. Once you get one side off you kinda learn your routine for the other side and it goes quickly.

i'm so stupid!!!

i disconnect the upper mount bolt and the rotor re hitting on the ground that's why it limit the movement. from that article i need to unbolt the lower one. that makes sense. oh well, will do it next week so i just swap out the shocks only. now my car front end drop and the rear end as high as sky.

ps: got sunburn too!!!

I always unbolt the top one, and just put the car as high on the jackstands as possible. I've seen people do it both ways, it just seems easier to me to undo the upper control arm from the spindle.

I just finished putting on my Eibach's and Tokico's on the front earlier this evening. I've never messed with anything dealing with the shocks or struts...and it only took me about 2½ hours at a comfortable pace. :confused:

i'm sending my car to tuffy this saturday morning to get the rear spring swap out and i'm gonna pay 160 bucks for it. i know it sucks but i really don't have the time already and will not want to deal it again. my muscle are pretty hurt now and when try to pull out the spring the jack fail and the car fell sideways towards me. scare the hell out of me. have to cycle to autozone to buy new jack to lift up the car again!!!
makes me harder to work also.

also my front end will dive easily and rub. the sport shock is softer than i thought!!!

I know you weren't working on your car with just a jack under it:confused: Jackstands are a necessity in life.....That is keeping your life.

So let me get this straight...

I won't have to disconnect the brake lines to get the rear spring out?...just plug and play so to speak? If so, I've got 3 hours before I go to work today, might try to get it done.

Correct, Joel and Mike and I did it in Joel's driveway and didn't disconnect any brake lines.

The rears be easy mon! Just relax... If you can do the fronts, you can do the rears with a few beers in ya.

I didn't need to remove my lines, I just Zip Tied the calipers outta the way...
