What does a bad CV joint sound/feel like? I have some issues in the rear part of my drivetrain and am trying to figure out if it is something other than the diff.
I can feel and here a clunk when going from out of park or when changing directions. It also can be heard some times if the passenger side tire spins on a right hand turn. This nais does seem to be coming from the passenger side but there are no torn boots and I can't seem to track it down on a lift by spinning the wheels back and forth. I am suspecting the differential but it was rebuilt two years ago. The half shafts have close to 150k on them so I just want to feel out all possibilities.
A clunking sound and feel, when shifting out of park, definitely sounds like differential problems. And if it happens during wheel spin, I dont think it's a tranny mount. And most likely not any kind of CV joint prob.
