iam assuming you mean the mount from the cros member to the trans, I could tell because my shifter was moving but I have a 5spd. crawl under you can when it's on jackstands and try to move your tail shaft and check for tears on the mount also check the crossmember bushings

In my case,

Fluid dripping out of it and slight vibration...a bad ujoint took mine out.

Yours may act different.

If you have had the tailhousing bolts back out, odds are you need to replace it.

sorry bout not being clearer earlier not the crossmember or the tranny mount or the crossmember bushings. inside the taile end of the transmisssion there is a bushing:?what are the symptoms if that there bushing into the hole in the end of the transmission where the driveshaft comes out of it is not wurking like it is supposed to when it comes from the ford factory.

it squeaks inside there kindof like a dry sounding squeak. My crossmember was bent when i got the carand now i put 60 000 miles on it like that so the trannny was sitting all at the wrong angle for all of them there miles and probably before for a while. I put a new crossmember and mounts in to straighten the tranny position out and now near as i can figger that bushing in the back hole of the tranny maybe is wored in the wrong way from being bent up like that and now that it sits right i think that things are rubbing in there and maybe i need to replace it to make the squeak go away. I am talkingf inside the transmission not the outside . outside is fine, and there is no tranny fluid falling on the floor under the car

Yeah, it's a bronze bushing, and there is a seal on the outside...

You can see pics in the jmod transmission article, there is also a lube mod to do to it as well. look in the 'technical articles' link on the front page...

If it's squeaking, that can't be good...

Hopefully, one of the transmission gurus will jump in and help out.

i see now. those pics are kinda very explanatory and it makes me understand what is going on in there I think that having the tranny all cockeyed made that bushing wear weird ways. so now the shaft is straight but the bushing is wored on an angle. how much mercon v is going to fall out when the tailshaft housing is removed?will less mercon fall out if the rear of the car is higher than the front?
If it is squeaking does that mean metal is getting grounded off the bushing and if it is getting ate, where does the metal go from there before it hits the pan?

I only hear the squeak when i turn the shaft by hand maybe it gets wet when the car is running and the tranmission is pumping bexcause I don't hear it when i is driving by the walls or places like those

I was told by the deeler that they cant get the bushing just can get the extension housing. for three hundies. or so. is there a year of the 4r70w that has the same bushing that is still a available part to be got in these modern times that will fit into the car that i already have? maybe crown vic or marquis or mustang or something like that ? would maybe a trannsmission store hhave access to the parts that are not really ford parts but made by some guy maybe in china or mexico somewhere instedd of america. Or maybe the deelar could really find them but they wont put the effert into it bcause it would not be werth their time to find me a part that is so nonexpensive.

The bushing is available online and at any trans parts supplier. It's about $7 or so,and most place carry the Clevite brand piece.
