Someone help please, I left all my books at work. Is the valve(?) that inserts into the valve cover on the left side near the back, with a hose attached to it the EGR valve or the PCV valve? I know this is probably a stupid question but, is it normal for it to chatter constantly? When I pull it out of the valve cover the motor hesitates for a second then seems to run smoother. I want to fix this constant chatter that you can hear while the car is running. Thanks in advance.

that is the pcv valve...what you could do is remove the pcv valve, plug up the hose right where it attached to the valve (because there might be another vacuum line coming off that plastic hose)...next remove the grommet on the right side valve cover and cap up the hole on the intake tube...then get two apc breathers and stick em on the valve covers...this is what i did...the gasses now exit out into the atmosphere...you could actually see the smoke...
