According to the tech article regarding rear axle ratio codes, I have a 3.27 open. The reason why it doesn't seem right is becausei have a 1990 3.8 n/a. I know I have the 7.5" rearend, its just that every other bird that doesn't have traklok that I hear of has 3.08s...... Can anyone verify this? -greg

My 97 has an open 3.27 with the 7.5" rear, but they were standard for that year. 3.08 may have been standard in 90, while the 3.27 were an option.

hmm... well, my 90 is a base. we picked it up at a year end clearance in 1990, the options were cruise control, a/c, power driver seat, aluminum wheels, and i think that was it, i lost the sticker and whatnot, but i dont remember seeing anything about gears on there. i jsut think its wierd cause it is a base 1990 3.8 n/a. -greg

As usual Joe doesn't post unless he knows. my 89 and 91 both had 3.27 opens, and both were optioned that way.

my 90 base also has 3.27 open, but my 95 v8 has 3.08 open. What was ford thinking when they geared these cars? The v8 should have come standard with at least a limited slip 3.27, or 3.55.

I know it all comes down to counting beans, and getting the best gas mileage out of the factory as you can.
