Heres my problem. My trannsmission will downshifts and slips slightly when it does, and when i say slips i mean the rpms will go up 4 to 5 hundred with no power gain and then drop t where they should be for the gear that it went in to. When it does all this it will remain in the gear it droped tp for 1 to 2 seconds and when go into the proper gear. it doesnt matter is o/d is off or on. It does this randomly at all speed and engine temps. the transmission was rebuild less than a year ago and i have puit less than 10,000 miles on it sense. I dont race the car or treat it badly. The transmission place that rebuilt it insists that is has to be something electrical or computer related, the ford dealership that i took i to to diagnose the computer and electrical system insists that is has to be the transmission and somthing mechanical in it because they cant find anything wrong with the electrical system or the computer or any sensors. Doesn anyone have any ideas what i should do? i cant afford to have the transmission rebuild again and have the electrical system rewired and buy a new computer so i need some guidence as to which to choose electrical/computer replaced or repaired or have the transmission rebuilt buy someone else. Any advise or assistance would be appriciated. Thanks

Jess

MLPS TRS all are way of refereing to the neutral safety switch. pre 97 used a poor desing on the connector and are subject to moisture and corrosion. Go to autozone buy the switch (around $45.00) jack up the car, 2 bolts line up the switch (neutral postion) and reinstall

You really think that it could be as simple as a 45 dollar part? man i hope so, i was figuring that it would probobly be the computer or a bunch or bad wires. I change the mlps monday when i have time and let you guys know. if you have any other ideas let me know. as a side thought wouldnt they have replaced the mlps when it was rebuilt or is than not part of a standard rebuilt?
