Ok, I am all for the ethical treatment of animals and against animal abuse. I also hunt and eat meat. For my English class in college we have to write an 8-12 page position paper, I chose to write mine on how PETA and other animal rights groups are hypocrites and go to unnecessary extremes. I don't mean to offend anybody here who may be a member of PETA but I stumbled across something that is disturbing.

Apparently PETA targets children as young as five with "comics" if that is what you want to call them. They hand these out at schools and other places where children are commonly present. Here is a link to one of the "comics" but I must tell you it is somewhat graphic so proceed with caution.

I think it just got easy for my to write my paper.

Before condemning PETA, I think you should verify that is in fact a PETA flyer, and not just some propaganda on an anti PETA site.

And no, I don't like PETA, but that just seems a little over the top, even for them!!. :beek:

if that comic is true, and from PETA, I'll be damned if someone gives my child a picture of a skinned dog on it.....especially the school.

Regarding the brainwashing of our kids with PETA horror comics, you might want to read this article as well. Yes I know it's a biased source of information, like PETA! ... lol

I hope www.petakillsanimals.com provides some useful information in writing your position paper. ;)

Yes it is, PETA really is that bad.

Would you hand that out to a small child who's walking out of a theater or ballet just because her mom's wearing a fur coat!?

Recently PETA was picketing in front of our local KFC protesting how they kill the chickens.

BEST part.....it was raining that day, and they were standing very close to the street.....where the gutters were VERY full of water.....

Can you say "drive by splashing"??:headbang: :znanner:

That comic was "featured" on FoxNews a few months ago when PETA in Cali started handing them out. They even had a few PETA members on defending their right to hand them out and making their case. . . . .to say the least there was a little bit of a knee-jerk reaction from just about every group except PETA condemning the action. So, to answer your question: Yes, it is for real.

If it's really a paper where you state your position ahead of time, then you're set to go. If it's a research paper that is supposed to present a balanced finding, it sounds like you're starting out on the wrong foot.

I remember that South park episode. Funny as shlt! I hate PETA. They go a little too far. I mean, I'm against inhumane treatment of animals but they are just a bunch of liberal wackos.

I think they've stepped beyond being liberal wacko's into uncharted territory... from www.petakillsanimals.com

7 Things You Didn't Know About PETA

1) PETA president and co-founder Ingrid Newkirk has described her group’s overall goal as “total animal liberation.” This means no meat, no milk, no zoos, no circuses, no wool, no leather, no hunting, no fishing, and no pets (not even seeing-eye dogs). PETA is also against all medical research that requires the use of animals.

2) Despite its constant moralizing about the “unethical” treatment of animals by restaurant owners, grocers, farmers, scientists, anglers, and countless other Americans, PETA has killed over 14,400 dogs and cats at its Norfolk, Virginia headquarters. During 2005, PETA put to death over 90 percent of the animals it collected from members of the public.

3) PETA has given tens of thousands of dollars to convicted arsonists and other violent criminals. This includes a 2001 donation of $1,500 to the North American Earth Liberation Front (ELF), an FBI-certified “domestic terrorist” group responsible for dozens of firebombs and death threats. During the 1990s, PETA paid $70,200 to an Animal Liberation Front (ALF) activist convicted of burning down a Michigan State University research laboratory. In his sentencing recommendation, a federal prosecutor implicated PETA president Ingrid Newkirk in that crime. And PETA vegetarian campaign coordinator Bruce Friedrich told an animal rights convention in 2001 that “blowing stuff up and smashing windows” is “a great way to bring about animal liberation.”

4) PETA activists regularly target children as young as six years old with anti-meat and anti-milk propaganda, often waiting outside their schools to intercept them as they walk to and from class-without notifying parents. One piece of kid-targeted PETA literature tells small children: “Your Mommy Kills Animals!” PETA brags that its messages reach over 2 million children every year, including thousands reached by e-mail without the permission of their parents. One PETA vice president told the Fox News Channel’s audience: “Our campaigns are always geared towards children, and they always will be.”

5) PETA has used a related organization, the PETA Foundation, to fund the misnamed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), a deceptive animal rights group that promotes itself as an unbiased source of medical and nutritional information. PCRM's president also serves as president of the PETA Foundation.

6) PETA runs campaigns seemingly calculated to offend religious believers. One entire PETA website is devoted to the claim-despite ample evidence to the contrary-that Jesus Christ was a vegetarian. PETA holds protests at houses of worship, even suing one church that tried to protect its members from Sunday-morning harassment. Its billboards taunt Christians with the message that hogs “died for their sins.” PETA insists, contrary to centuries of rabbinical teaching, that the Jewish ritual of kosher slaughter shouldn't be allowed. And its infamous “Holocaust on Your Plate” campaign crassly compares the Jewish victims of Nazi genocide with farm animals.

7) PETA has repeatedly attacked research foundations like the March of Dimes, the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and the American Cancer Society, because they support animal-based research that might uncover cures for birth defects and life-threatening diseases. PETA president Ingrid Newkirk has said that “even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, we would be against it.”

The most recent PETA billboard I've seen was proclaiming Fishing as inhumane treatment of fish. They had a picture of a hook in a dogs mouth asking if you'd do that to your pets, or something like that. Really nutty folks they are.

I saw these guys throwing red paint on old ladies, years ago...

For wearing fur. (In Atlanta)

I told them about a gathering where everyone would be wearing animal skin clothing, over a weekend;

I made sure everyone in our group knew about them, too...

They drove into Cherokee during the biannual biker gathering...didn't stay long...

Didn't throw any paint on any of the leather-clad bikers, either...apparently their convictions weren't too strong...

I think a few of them even got force-fed barbecue, as I remember. :D
