anyone know the sock size of the throttle body on a 93 t Bird 3.8L V6? also i was lookin to get a bigger one....but was looking for a cheaper way to get one rather than burngin a $300-$400 hole in my wallet for a bran new one...didn't know if some mustang stock throttle bodies may be bigger that i can swap in there and where i could get them used or off junked cars

putting on a larger TB will just be wasting your money if you don't have other mods to back it up (in this case, ported heads and/or intake).

if you want to spend that money and get a good upgrade, look at a cam swap.

I sell some throttle bodies. I think the best for you right now would be a stock halfshafted and ported throttle body, since anything larger requires porting the upper intake manifold, and anything larger is also useless unless you've got upper and lower ported intakes. When I first installed my ported upper and lower intakes I felt a good difference, but the 60mm tb I have now woke the engine up quite a bit, and this was with stock heads and cam at the time. Here's what I sell.

stock 50mm halfshafted tb - $60+20 core
60mm 5.0L tb (adapted to fit) - $120+20 core
65mm 4.6L tb (adapted to fit, with remote IAC) - 180+20 core

ok thanks for the heads up guys.....along with the new throttle body(maybe) i was gonna make a home made intake with exhaust pipe and cone filter....but i dind;t know u needed all that extra stuff. what it mean when u say ported throttle body and ported upper and lowerintake manifold?

well the throttle body has a ridge in it, right before the plate, which creates turbulance as air flows past it, slowing it down. By smoothing out the ridge there is less turbulance and it will flow more.

As for the intakes, they're cast aluminum, and the area where they're molded together inside the port has an extruding line, otherwise known as 'casting flashes' you can remove these and generally just polish up the intake runners and gain a decent amount of power out of it. There's also room to be ported in the inlet neck (area from the throttle body back), and when you get a larger throttle body, the inlet on the manifold is still the same size, so it's not going to flow any more unless you port that out to the size of the throttle body. And with the 65mm TB, I actually recommend a cut and welded neck, which I also do. And you can also remove some runner length and gain some top end. Low end is hurt only very slightly by this, but the top end gains are worth it, and with other mods it's hardly noticeable. Here are some pics.

ohh ok i got ya now...thanks alot...how much all that go for generally? to port and clean up all those? if one had a grinder, couldn;t you just do it urself to the throttle body?...not mechanically inclined or confident enough to take engine parts off of my daily driver

I use a die grinder, it takes about 20 times as long (literally) if you're using a dremel tool, but it does work. It takes a few tries to get one perfect, but you could do it on your own. You'd also need a cutting wheel to cut the one half fo the shaft off. Just be carefull not to grind anything past where the throttle plate seats, or you'll leak air past it.

stock halfshafted/ported TB is 60+20 core charge (returned to you when you send me your stocker)
60mm 5.0L TB is 120+20 core (more expensive because it requires adapting)
65mm 4.6L TB is 180+20 core (again, more expensive because of the adapting, and the remote IAC adaptor)

the ported intakes are:
100+20 core for a ported lower intake
100+20 core for a ported upper intake
275+20 core for cut/weld upper intake (cost is in the welding)
350+20 core for cut/weld with cut/weld neck for 65mm TB (again, cost is in welding)
