I imagine J-Rob will know the answer to this:

On a '96 Thunderbird, is the "Thunderbird LX" script on the trunk bolted on, or is it merely double-sided tape. I'm hoping to remove it using the old fishing line method, and a little clay magic to clean up the leftover residue. Somebody let me know if it's indeed as easy as that.

fishing line has never worked for me, it always snaps.

I remove emblems with a razor and acetone. use the razor to cut the tape in the foam section, then use the acetone to remove the tape from the paint (it didn't hurt my 89 or 91's paint, but use at your own risk). Just make sure to wax the area after because acetone will remove all wax.

it leaves three holes .... USE A HAIR DRYER TO LOOSEN IT AND STICK A LONG SCREW DRIVER IN THE HOLE IN THE TRUNK TO PUSH THE PRONGS OUT FROM THE BACK. then fill the wholes with body puddy and paint

good luck
