Is there a way to adjust the timing on my 94 4.6? Or is it a computer controlled aspect? If it is manually adjustable how far should I advance it?

On our cars the timing is generally only adjustable via the computer. I think the general consensus is it is better to have the car tuned so more timing is added only when it is beneficial. Adding timing across the board is less desirable, but there are manual timing adjusters out there that accomplish this.

Your can accomplish it mechanically through a timing adjuster like the one steeda sells, but it is not a very good option.

It changes the ignition timing the same amount regardless of RPM. Not Ideal.
It also changes the injector pulse timing, which can hurt proper mixing. Again not ideal.

A chip can changes spark and injector timing idepentant of each other and rpm. This is the best option.
