245/45R17 is smaller diameter than stock tires. 245/50R17 is the same diameter as stock, and will fit with absolutely no problems. Ths stock sport tires width is 225, so the 245 is only 20mm wider, which translates to less than 1/2" extra width on the inside and outside.

Assuming the Same Width Rim...

If I remember correctly, for every 1/2 wider the rim, the section width of the tire increases by .2 inches. So those measurements have to be taken into consideration also. Correct me if I'm wrong. So if the manufacture says the section width is 10 inches measured on a 7.5 inch rim and you are using an 8.5 rim, the section width would measure out at 10.4 inches, which could impact clearances. Just some information that may help.

When I had rubbing issues, it was my 17X9 rims, not my tires. I run 245/45/17's with no troubles. The rim issue was cleared up by a small spacer.
