The middle number "50", "60", whatever it is, is only a ratio. The sidewall height in relation to the width of the tire (which is indicated by the "235", "245", "255" etc.).. the larger the number the wider the tire.. I think that the first set of numbers is the tread width in MM(? correct me if I'm wrong anyone), the second set is the sidewall height in relation to the width, the third is the wheel size.
A 245/60/15 has a width of 245 mm, the sidewall height is 60% of that, and it fits on a 15" wheel.
Now i'm totally confused. According to the tire conversion sites listed above, to keep the same height and not throw off the stance of car or the speedo, the closest match is a 265 to keep my height the same? I don't want to change the fronts, almost new, so what's the solution?
That may be true, however a 265 (265 MM) is too wide to fit on the narrow stock 15" Wheel. A 245 (245 MM) just fits. and by the way.... Looks very good on there.. (had them before I got my 16" Sport wheels)
the 70 in 215/70R15 is the hight of the sidewall compaird to the tread width(215). so if you want a wider tire you need to look at the first number for the width. Then to keep it the same hight you will need to look at the second number.
A good rule is for every width change bigger or smaller you will need to do the oppasite to the number for hight. same goes with rim size. So one size up from a 215/70R15 would be 225/65R15 and so on.
I'm restoring a set of 16x7 wheels from my '93 SC for use on my '97 T-Bird. Even though I can run the flat SC center caps I kind of like the exposed lug nut cap they used on the 96/97 Sport wheels. I have not been able to find and Sport wheel center caps. What I have found is a cap from a...
