I need to change my transmission crossmember and I want to know if I can swap it without removing any of the exhaust pipes.

Well, I don't know if you can or not. But when I pulled the crossmember to put new bushings in it, I tried every way I could to do it without dropping the exhaust pipes and couldn't do it. Drop the pipes, its much much easier.

Use PB Blaster at least a few hours before you try to loosen them. A couple of shots the night before would be good.

You don't NEED to remove the exhaust but it will make it easier. What you can try to do is have a jack under the trans and then unbolt the crossmember from the trans mount and the frame. Then slowly lower the jack until you reach a point where you can maneuver the crossmember out. You might even have to remove the trans mount from the trans if you can't get the stud out of the crossmember. If you do do this, just make sure to pay attention to the exhaust so it doesn't break when you are lowering it.

And with this post, I am officially a whore. Keg party!!!
