It took three of us to get the dennis Rienhart tranny in to the bird. It was very differant than what people discribed on the how too block of this site. In fact some of this weekend was down right comical. Two hours friday, 10 hours on saturday and 2 hours no sunday. It took 2 hours to get the bird off the ground( Lowered cars are a pain). I only had a shorty 2 ton jack and some peazo shight jack stands. We had to jack it up 6 inches, add some wood and then repeat 4 times. I had not relized how high the car has to be to remove a tranny. Some advise to those how are about to get new exhaust. "DON'T LET THEM CUT OFF YOUR FLANGES FOR THE MUFFLERS". It is such a pain to remove the whole exhaust all at once. Another thing, make sure all the tranny fluid is out of the old tranny and the new tranny. Because the place where the yoke fits in to the tranny is a prime spot to compleatly douch your self with the red smelly stuff. Tip the new one around and get it all out of there. My garage looks like a serial murder seen from Texas chainsaw. Not to mention after 10 showers I still smell like a torque converter. I could go on for hours. All I am really sure is 2nd gear is now a blast. I'll be damned if I don't bark'em at every light...Eric

P.S. Just ask if ya have any ????

DR's tranny costs $1595 normally, with I think a $700 core (maybe $500). So if you don't ship him back your tranny, it will cost around $2300 not sure if that's with shipping.

For what it consists of, click here and go to Ford OD Transmissions 101 as well as the 2 below that to get an idea of what everyone talks about by the Jmod.

If you open up the Transmission 101 Article in the Tranny Tech section, the tranny expert that wrote the whole "Trans Mod" thesis suggested the ways to create a "bulletproof" transmission with factory Ford parts. To the best of my knowledge, Mr. Reinhart rebuilds transmissions to those specifications. The "shift kit" mod to the trannies can be done to whatever desired specifications I believe.

*Edit: sorry, got beat to it*

Um...no. When I bought my tranny from dennis, it was $2000 with a $300 core charge.
He also says it has everything mentioned in the tranny 101 article (including the '99 valvebody, forced tail lube mod, updated accumulators, servos, etc)

The cost varies from customer to customer.

Ok here is some clarity for all you guys wanting the Dennis R tranny. It cost is 1595.00. It is built by Art Carr Performance in Abiline TX. Dennis is who you order through. He charger 300.00 for the core. If you live in California the shipping is 250.00 for both ways. It also comes with a street/strip 2300 stall converter. I am not sure how come the price varies. But they use a shipping company called Con-way. So it couls just be the distance it has to travel.

The tranny is more than worth the money if you can install it your self. My floor board used to get hotter than hell. But now even after driving the hell out of it, it still is cool to the touch.

More than worth it...Eric

Well, either things changed, or I got ripped off. Mine was 2000 plus 300 core, with a stock converter. A better converter was an extra $600. (he wouldn't sell me a mk8 one, said it wasn't worth it)
D***!
