Ok so I finally got around to having the dirtyd0g tranny I bought from JamesD installed this past week... All seems to be in order except one thing the shop could not figure out how to install the temp sending unit I got with the Auto Meter 5757 tranny temp gauge.They said the threads in the deep pan are course pipe threads and the brass fittings are not and in short just gave up... So now it has been towed to the next county to have the true duals installed and when it comes home next week I need to find a way to fix this... I have a triple gauge pod ready to go in as soon as I get the car back and want all the gauges to work...

So I know this has been done and yes I have tried the SEARCH function to no avail..Anyone with the answer?? I would like to have what I need ready before I pull the plug. Replacing all that new fluid is gonna make me mad...;)

On the plus side I got to move the car across the lot today and it sounds nice with open manifolds....

Dont mean to hi jack but....

Would it be better to install the unit on the line going from the trans to the radiator?

Just read that on the article saying that its the hottest fluid.

Which is what I might do. Even if the kit I have recommends the line going back into the trans to check the temp of the fluid going back in...

I would like to hi-jack this thread also. I am thinking about installing a temperature gauge for my transmission fluid. Can I put the electric sender in the pressure port on the LH side of the transmission case? This one is cool because it has a wire instead of a thermocouple. If not here, I am thinking about doing it in-line. I dont want to deal with putting a hole in the trans pan. Let me know whats up. Thanks in advance.

Is it a bad idea for the sender to "see" pressurized fluid? I am worried it will possibly blow out.

I wouldn't do that it will not be accurate. I suggest for one sensor use the pan. For 2 sensors use the hot and cold side of the cooler.

I think I could rest easier knowing the sender isnt under pressure. I guess I will weld in a bung on the pan for the sender sometime. I think it's 3/8 NPT. Thanks for the reply :)

I can and do tap the cast aluminum pans I sell for people provided they can tell me exactly what size they need for their setup.
