ok i have a 1997 t-bird 3.8 auto with the overdrive im gonna change the filter and fluid on the trans can some one tell me what tranny this car has i wanna make sure i get the rite filter and gasket set up,o yea one more question did this tranny come factory with the merc v fluid i read it could cause damage if the fluids are mixed any info will sure help.....Thanks

Don't change the pan gasket they are lifetime reusable and the best gasket you can buy

Make sure that you only use Mercon V. Not because you can't mix them, but because of the clutch material in the transmission needing the right fluid.
