I just installed one on my Bird, and it works perfect. You only need one strut.
Ford part number is F4ZZ-63406A10-B and is from a 1994 Mustang GT. $20.27
I only had to drill one hole in the trunk arm.
I also bought a metric coupling, so that you can screw the one end of the strut to and existing stud in the trunk comp.
I also bought a ball socket mounting plate, which attaches to the trunk arm.
Took all of 10 minutes to do the job.
You can have the extra parts, as I bought enough for two. Unfortunately, I sent the extra strut back to Dan at 5-Star. PM me with your address.
Note: These two parts cost about $3 total.
When you push the trunk open button, the trunk extends all the way up at a nice even rate. It does not fly up. When you close it, it closes without slamming itself.
I am going to take some pictures tomorrow, and do a write up on it, as I found the Tech Article at MN12's web-site lacking in detail.
