is there a sure way to know that the TV cable is adjusted correctly? b/c i adjusted it the other day(according to Haynes) and my car runs great! However, i still don't know if it needs to be adjusted further, i don't really want to f-up my tranny. Any ideas? thanks.

Do NOT adjust TV preasure according to the tech article. It is extreamly inaccurate, and can lead to trans failure. I am going to write up a proper article on adjusting the presure later in the week for others on this form.
I ment to do it last week, but I have been very busy.

please get that done, I would love to read it. When I put on my 60mmtb I adjusted the TV cable so it shifts slightly stiffer than normal. This is okay to do. Having softer shifts than normal is very much not okay though.

if the TV cable is adjusted so that there isn't the right amount of pressure flowing in the valvebody it will destroy the tranny within 50 miles of driving it like that.

well, i've definately been over 50mi. since the adjustment. But how easy is it to actually mis-adjust the TV cable sooo much that it throws out the transmission? i mean what signs do i need to look or hear for while i'm driving so that i can re-adjust it before it's too late? thanks.

what about my idle set screw, i have to adjust it every winter so that the RPM's are higher while the engine is warming up. But what is the idle supposed to be set at while in PARK? I may need to re-adjust the idle set screw in order to get the TV cable right. what do you think thomas?

the idle set screw has nothing to do with the tv cable because the tv cable does it's thing when the car has gas and the idle does it's thing at...well...idle.

Yeah, but what i'm saying is, i adjusted the TV cable accordingly by the idle stop, but the idle set screw effects the position of the idle stop, right?

P.S-(Thomas) my WOT shift point is around 3500 coming out of 1st, is this where it's supposed to be for my stock 3.8? thanks.

I might be worried about it shifting at 3500, that's pretty low. I'd take it into a shop and have them adjust it, they have the proper equipment to test the pressure of the TV and can adjust it correctly and not just by feel. IMO you're shifting too low. Back when my car was stock it shifted at 4000-4200 or so. I haven't changed my shift points yet so it's still the same.
