So since I live in MI way up north n the winters are brutal and full of salt I looked underneath the car and see some surface rust beginning. Now I know some know it all's will tell me it's stupid; but I wanna coat the under body and exhaust. I know for the exhaust I need a high heat pant and I wanna sand the underbody and put a THICK layer of coating underneath and wherever else that needs it. I know essentially all of these linings are rubberized and vinyl like, but which brand or material would be the best for an underbody?

U can use POR-15, but it can be expensive. That stuff is awesome though, a lot of people use that on frames when restoring cars. You can take a hammer to the paint and it doesn’t chip.

dupli color makes this spray on stuff in a can, its rubberized and does good. I would spray the bottom first with stuff that turns rust into paint? i forgot what its called, but its black. Then I would hit it with the rubberized undercoating. This can all be found at any auto parts store.
