Ordered new headlamps finally for my 93 LX bird and was toying with the notion on going Leds for low and highs.
Wanted to see if anyone here with an 89-93 bird or cougar has converted theirs and what's your recommendation?

My recommendation?

9011/9012s trimmed to fit where the 9005/9006 currently is.

The below LED headlight conversion kits seem to be new at Amazon has anyone had any experience installing these in your 96TB.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the two versions?

Thanks,

Glenn

Triple sided is a no go. You need the leds on 2 sides firing left and right into the reflector. You also want that tiny rice grain size led which is similar to the stock filament. A big jumbo led or 3 sided is just going to ruin the pattern, create glare and not light up the road very well. The reliability of fans is also questionable.

I never tried for the high/low beam; however, I installed a relay to use the inboard parking lights as DRLs with LED bulbs.

Yes, I'd prefer to have LED low beams, too, but I'm not convinced (yet) that an LED in a reflector designed for an incandescent bulb wouldn't cause unwanted dark spots, etc.

Sylvania makes 9007 LED bulbs, but I haven't seen anyone using them here. They do have a quality appearance.

These newer models do not require mods. They bolt in and already indexed to give a stock beam pattern on my 97. I believe the 95 headlights clock the bulbs in the same position.

I have been wanting to upgrade to LED headlights to increase visibility at night since my eyesight us not the greatest. I've tried different LED lights and they either don't fit in the housing or the light pattern is terrible. Is there a way to have LED lights in a 96 tbird? Any suggestions would be great.

I haven't tried them myself; however, my friend is very happy with Sylvania LEDs in his Prius (projector beam type headlamp). Note that they're advertised for offroad use only, and they're $99 a pair. I'd say they're worth trying.

no cooling fan which you don't want.
The Sylvania ones do have a cooling fan. (Why is that a negative? Unreliable?)

Man, it was a gut punch seeing Ralph's avatar at the top of the thread. Too many dead people, dammit. I was going to get him to send me a piece of 25 or 50 pair phone cable for complex breadboards, but I forgot, and now it's too late. :(

He was so generous, he was going to send me a 3.73 ring and pinion for the cost of shipping once. I really miss chatting with him.
