VB Bolts & JMod Springs

I figured out why my 1-2 shifts were so firm

Should there have been two springs in that 1-2 spot? My instructions from RobertP said to leave out the pink spring if I wanted the shifts firmer but seeing as I had no springs and didn't like that firm shift I figured I should put both in. The brown I put in the top above the piston and the pink I put in the bottom against the retaining plate where the c clip goes. I'm hoping that's right because getting that clip back in was a real pain.

My problem now is that when I went to put the valve body back together and I broke a bolt head off. I was able to get it out but i'm hoping i didn't hose anything else up.

Would these bots work? Based on the exploded view from the sticky i'm thinking they are just what i need.

Not sure about the bolts, maybe a good hearted soul here will have an extra! :D Short or long bolt?

The 94-95s only had the lower spring and you put the new ones in correctly! :)

Well I torqued all of them but only one broke so im thinking i may want to just replace all of them. i called the peppy boys but without a part number they couldn't help. I gave them the number from this
144 N807178-S1000 Bolt - M6-1.0 X 16 Hex Head (12-Attach Reinforcing Plate to Valve Body)
but nothing came up.

And to answer your question on short vs. long it actually one of the ones that go on the plate, not that hold the VB to the trans.

another question. i just went through the process in my head and i remembered I never found a filter from under the valve body. Not the little screen inside the valve body, I'm talking about the trapezoidal screen that sits near the 1-2 or 2-3, number 111 on the exploded view i believe. Did all years have that and I just lost it? it's not in any of my pans I used. If it fell on the ground it's long gone with the wind and rain we've had the past few days.

Yeah I figured something wasn't right just from the way it was hitting 2nd so hard at times.

Totally unrelated, have you ordered stuff from Bill at SCP? He thought we were related since our last names were similar.

I have yet to. I think my dad did when he gave me a Cold Air Intake for my birthday one year.

Just because it's like to see it, can you take a pic of the hole for that filter and the number off the side of the case?

that screen would go right next to the 1-2 right?

My bolts got lost in the mail so I decided to just check the local lowes and they had the SS bolts i needed. Now my new problem is I lost one of the pan bolts. It's too dark for me to look for it but im hoping i dropped it but im afraid i left it in the pan and it stuck to the magnet so i need to drop it real quick and check. if its not in there im sure ill find it in my tire once i get it back to driving.

It does go there on newer transmissions.

I am attaching a pic of a transmission that's on my bench right now. You should be able to see the outline of where the filter sits. See the difference between how that well looks on your case and the one in my pic? In yours there isn't a "shelf" parallel with the valve body surface that the filter can sit against like in the pic below. Instead yours slopes at an angle down toward that hole in the well.

In your case there is no provision to hold that filter in place. Won't do a darn thing except for bounce around and maybe get torn up, so don't try to use one.

Good to know. Thanks for the info. I'm hoping tomorrow I can get my vogts installed up front and get the bird back on the road.
