I thought we had a self regulating alternator but autozone lists one for the 1995 4.6 on their web site?????

The voltage regulator is a separate part, mounted on the back of the alternator.
I recently changed it on my 95 4.6

I would also recommend changing the brushes too! I have 155K on my 97 and I changed the brushes and found that ford had replaced my original altenator with a rebuilt unit when they replaced my cracked intake @ 90K miles. Judging from the wear on the brushes, I would change the brushes every 60K as they were almost to the hole used to hold them back at which time they will eat into the wear ring. I priced a rebuilt altenator and prefered the $11 brush and holder set from NAPA.
