my water pump pulley is wobbling really bad about 1/2 in each way. is there anyway to find out if it is the pulley or the pump itself?

In my experiences when it wobbles, the water pump needs replacing. Like it was said above, take out the 4 bolts that hold the pulley up and see if the shaft wobbles.

Well, the only way the pulley is going to wobble is if some of the 4 bolts are not tightened. The pulley is just a peice of metal attatched to the shaft of the waterpump - it really cant break.

It's not the pulley, it's the water pump. Its gonna leak soon if it isn't already. Change it out ASAP.

It sounds like your ball bearings in the pump are failing. If you continue to run it like that, the pump could possibly seize up and tear up other things. Don't delay, you need to change it. It's an easy job and not very expensive either. Good luck!

Or $24 at RockAuto (- 5% discount) and a $6 core charge for an A1 Cardone water pump.

If you have a pump with that much wobble you don't have time to wait for it to come in the mail frome either Dan or rock auto. You shouldn't even consider starting it again until you have it fixed.

Have you checked to see if maybe the pulley bolts have come loose?

Seems like if it wobbled as much as you are describing, it would have puked anti-freeze by now.
