i would've gone with a 5.0 60mm throttle body instead. You can get them at a junkyard for 20-30 dollars and adapt them to work, or buy one from me :) I think the BBK is way too costly for the small increase in size.

yeah, but the upper intake was ported to fit the 56mm bbk. the 60 wouldnt do all that much i think.

might not help, but it wouldnt hurt and its a lot cheaper. Plus its not that hard to open up the upper more with a dremel or die grinder.

weekend suck-a-thon

ok, so this weekend didn't go exactly as planned. i got a ported upper intake from super six, and i (stupidly) assumed they sent me the right one. however after the fact i took the upper intake off i realized that it was not. the one they sent me is slightly different. on the left side of the throttle body there is a outlet tube mine does not have. and on the right side of the intake man. there are 2 outlets. the one they gave me has only one. below is a picture. my question is there a way to modify (without drilling and tapping) to make this manifold i got from super six work?

well they're both vaccuum outlets I'm assuming? If so you could just route the hose to the other side. The one they sold me had 3 on the left side where mine had two so I just plugged one of them and all was well. They do use cores and most of them are from Mustangs so some differences have to be expected.

i would do that, however the one on the left of the throttle body is much larger than the small openings. what do those hoses do?

right,

the outlets to the left of the top bolts. i have 3

on the super six it has 2

on the bottom side where the throttle body goes mine has zero

on the super six it has 1 on either side and they are about 3/4 inch in diameter

ok so on the 2 that are on either side, i did a little test. i blew in one end while holding the other end shut then released. they do not open up to the inside of the manifold. so theoretically i suppose that it would not effect how my car runs as long as i dont hook them up to anything. so that leaves me with one problem the 2 on the side next to the top bolts. what do the 2 small outlets do, and could i get away with unplugging one, and which one?

you can get reducers at an autoparts store, I'd look there and see what you can come up with.

oh, I think I know what you're talking about now. There are two 3/4" outlets on either side of the manifold below the throttle body? That's the coolant crossover passage. On some eyars it went through the manifold, and other it went through a seperate pipe that runs underneath the manifold beside the fuel rail. If that's the case you can just take out the crossover pipe and stick the coolant hoses onto the manifold outlets.

ok, so the super six guy called me back about 20 minutes ago. which first of all i dont want it to sound like i was dogging super six. they have actually been very helpful and friendly. he confirmed what you said thomas. those 2 tubes are for cooling. i may cut them off since they aren't used. or i may re-route some lines. havent decided yet.

he also said the vacumn tubes can run off the same outlet. so all i need is a T head to plug them both in.

the only issue may be space wise with the cooling tubes. i may have to cut them off to make them fit.

the throttle position sensor screws i finally got out, and man what a pain in the ***! why do they put threadlock on them?

tommorow my roomate is going to take me and get some tools (torx heads for my fuel rail), a T head for those vacumn lines, and new vacumn lines (the old ones broke during removal).

super six offered to take the bad one back and replace it, and pay for the shipping too. however i think we can make this one work. i will post pictures and descriptions/problems i ran into for others who might do the same task.

much thanks to thomas for the frequent advice, and i will post tommorow with the results.

you mean that U.F.O. looking thing behind the throttle body? That's the EGR diaphram. There are two bolts holding it onto the intake manifold, so if you unbolt those it will come off.

sounds like you have a vaccuum leak, check all your connections and make sure none of the hoses are disconnected or cracked and leaking.

Now next time you have free time GET THAT **** DONE SON! BE A MAN :D Intakes are nuthin'
