fixed it, thanks
LOL Well, now that I can see the part......... I don't know the name of it either.. Sorry I couldn't be more help. But I am anxious to see what its called!
its called a front strut rod bushing, that is the front position, and its pn is e9sz.3a187.a
is it a kit that comes with 2 bushings for each side of the strut bar?

before the bar attaches to the frame the bushing is worn out. On the other side of the frame where the strut bar has a bushing and nut to hold it down the bushing looks 75% gone.

Do i need to order 2 or does a kit come with both sides?

sorry to hijack the thread but i think the info outcome will help us both...
yes that is a kit , bushings , sleeves, washers, nuts
I think another technical name for the rod it is a "tension strut," but I mentioned that to the Ford place in town and got the blank stare.

You can get some cheap bushings at rockauto.com, but some people say they wear out fast. I never tried them so I don’t know.

for one side only? does the last letter specify the side? if so whats the number for a passenger side kit? is that motorcraft?
In the service manual the bar is referred to as the front suspension lower arm strut. The bushing for the bar are called strut rod bushings, so I think it's safe to call the thing a strut rod.
porky, you'll need 2 , one kit does one side
well thanks guys, my front end has been rattling around, and i finally found that they were pretty worn out, and showing some rubbed metal, hopefully this will fix!

It's the same for both sides.
saawweeeeeeeeet thanks guys...looks like i have a weekend project as well..
I'll add my thanks for the info as well, as this is one of the areas of my front suspension that needs to be addressed before my '92 can be inspected.:)
DO NOT BUY Moog strut rod bushings! FYI. Get the Ford stuff.

trust me.

Duly noted. Thanks!:D
man looks like a lot people had the same problem, but a lot of people are now benefiting
Why not buy Moog? Don't put a wrench on the flat part of the strut rod. The service manual says not to. I don't know why. It is just a bad thing to do. If you put a wrench on the ends of the flat areas you are ok. Not in the middle of it. Where do those part numbers go? Which dealer or store?
