I'll try to discribe this best I can due to the fact that I am lacking a digital camera at the moment, but in my 97 v-8 (the one in my sig and pic), behind my ashtray/cigarette lighter assembly and din plate, I have a metal rectangular object, I have no idea what it is or what it does, if need be I can get the part number off of it, I had planned on deleting my ashtray assembly and running three gauges (cylinder head temp bank 1, cylinder head temp bank 2, and trans temp) and three small switches for my trans cooler fan, radiator pusher fan, and oil cooler fan, which until now have not been hooked up, when I stumbled upon this object, my 97 v-6 doesn't have it, my friends 97 v-6 doesn't have it, I went out to storage and looked in my white 96 v-8 and it doesn't have it..... um what is it? It is a ford piece... Also it seems this car came with every option, leather, cd player, fin, moon roof, but no abs? is that normal? and no traction control button either any clues?

if you have the premium sound option its the amplifier. they moved it to that location in 97. it was in the trunk up through 96.

There's a label that says "Premium Sound" on the main console right underneath the climate-control air intake which is right above or near the ashtray.

lol I happen to be missing that little plastic tab ..... 94 on air is supposed to be sending me the one that says "stereo" its been missing since before I got the car so is it possible that I should actually have one that says "premium sound" ?

If you have premium sound, it says "Premium Sound", each word on its own line. I can snap a pic for ya tomorrow if you'd like.

I don't know how else you can find out if you have the premium sound option but I did notice that my speakers were labeled premium sound also, but you'd have to take off the door panels to see that (not hard).

PS: Also, if the car came with all those options it probably has premium sound too.

excuse my ignorance but if we are refering to the small plastic piece that is in the pic in this thread http://forums.tccoa.com/showthread.php?t=94004 that says "premium sound" I don't have the piece I have an empty slot where there should be a piece, and due to my ignorance am getting a replacement that says "stereo" I didn't know that there was premium sound piece or I would have looked for that instead, all the birds I've been in just have the tab that says "stereo" wow I feel dumb.... also the more I look at it I think its very possible that it could be an amp.

sport models came without ABS and without traction control I believe, at least mine doesnt, and its a sport.

take a pic of it. my 97 didnt have anything back there. i know cuz i removed the ashtray and put my nitrous switches there. i didnt have premium sound though. i'm pretty sure its the amp
